Girl The Story
Money (That's What I Want)

I was referred to producer Nico Verrips when I visited EMI Holland with some songs . . . .Nico and I talked around my stuff, but due to his 'production style' decided on two Beatle covers . . . . Actually, I wanted to do an Eastern European version of "Girl", however Nico wanted to do "You're Gunna Lose That Girl" and "Money (That's What I Want)".

Although it took a very long time working on the tracks, about a month each, I was pleased with the outcome. Nico programmed and played all the music for my vocal interpretations. I had fun with the 'grungy noise', and slipped into moments of Jim Morrison (We want the world and we want it now), John Lennon (Plastic Ono Vand) and I 'borrowed' some of the text and vibe from George Harrison's "Set On You", changing some lyrics just to keep it current. Unfortunately, when Nico shopped it to major labels in Holland they were unable to accept our 're-take' of Beatle tunes at the time . . . their loss.

Via, the Dutch Company I sighed with eventually released "Lose that Girl". But they functioned really as a distributor of already successful foreign production, which must be an easy job. It was often difficult ot get them on the phone! Basically they lost that Girl . . . .

Hey! Greetings to Nico! Hope to work with you again . . . .
